Many who who hate the thought of Foxnews still use Myspace, even though they are owned by the same company, NewsCorp.

And people who "hate supporting" the tobacco companies use products from Phillip Morris all the time, including Oreos, kraft macaroni and cheese, Kool-aid, tombstone pizza, shake and bake, etc. The list goes on forever.

If people "care so much" that they go out of their way to keep their dollars away from these companies why don't these people make sure they aren't supporting these companies in a backhanded way?

1) Most people have no clue who makes most of the produces they buy/use.
2) Most Americans don't 'hate' the companies in question. They just think they should based on inaccurate/biased 'news' accounts.
3) It is practically impossible to find any company that does not have a subsidiary/sister company that you can't find a reason to not like.

jl_jack09: If you think it is possible to characterize any business as 'Republican owned' or 'Democrat owned', I would like to introduce you the the New York Stock Exchange. Publicly traded companies, by definition are owned by the stockholders. I defy you to identify the political affiliations of even half of the stockholders of ANY company on the NYSE.

Because it's hard. I can't remember the hundreds of brands that belong to the large corporations that I dislike - there are just too many.

Not everyone knows that the Body Shop is now oned by L'Oreal, who are one of the most prolific and cruellest animal testers there are. L'Oreal are, in turn, part owned by Nestle, who have been the subject of a worldwide boycott for nearly 20 years because of their unethical promotion of powdered baby milk in the third world.

Where does it say that on the front door of the Body Shop?

Not everyone has the time to research and memorise exactly which company owns which brand on top of trying to research and memorise which companies should be boycotted in the first place.

It's sad, but true.

Karl, karl, karl, you know I am your biggest Questions fan. Did you read Yahoo terms of service? You have a problem with facts. I do not support any Republican owned business. I go out of my way to give my money only to a Democrat. That is fact. Now I do buy Gas to get to work from the Republican owned business. I also buy some food from Republican owned business's when I need to eat. I would not even do that if I had a Democrat to buy that from.
Do you know of any Democrats that sell good beer so I can sit and watch FOX news and Sports on TV all night while i drink?
BTW, do you drive a gas hog SUV? which supports Terrorist all over the world? I get 26 mpg city in my truck. I also mix in Ethanol at 10 percent.
BTW, I love November, I drive around town and write down house numbers of those who support Republicans, then I look them up in the City Directory and I find out which business to avoid giving my money.
