Proceed with extreme caution. He may indeed be asking for help, and it could help the niece as well, but he could have ulterior motives. The niece could try helping him out with things like yard work, but not move in just yet, in order to test the waters and see how things go.

People will definitely be wagging their tongues over this. You said that she has a teenage daughter? I would say that it is not appropriate. You really need to think about how this is going to affect her daughter. As adults the 2 of you may be able to handle the looks & talking behind your backs, but this kid has to live with it too. She shouldn't have to deal with this.

That depends.
If he truely wants to help her and her daughter out than yes its ok. On the other side if he is doing this to hopefully be romantic with her than no. I believe that decision should be up to her.Prayer helps .

Proper according to whom? I guess it depends on your intentions, which none of us could possibly know. On its surface it seems a very good thing to help out a family member who is in need of help.

I read your other question on this subject and I wonder at your motives. If you have to ask if it is all right, I think your only trying to make yourself feel better over your true feelings for wanting her to move in.

As long as a relationship doesn't start and you both have thick enough skin to ignore the people who think a relationship has started.

As long as your motives are to stickly help her get out of a bad situation then no. If you have other intentions, then yes.

yeah as long as your compfortable with it, i mean he is your family and if anything funny/strange happens then you can just leave...I also would like to add, how long were they married/together before she died that also makes a difference sometimes but I would take him up on his offer if he seems like a good guy

Why not? If the intention is to help her and she actually wants help I don't see anything improper about it.
