when people im me they'll just say sp what does that mean?

It refers to misspellings.

I would go with "spelling". When I'm IMing to someone and don't know if my spelling of something is right, I'll put (sp?) after it. Maybe they're correcting your spelling.

it means that you spelled something wrong and maybe they don't know what you mean so they want you to check your spelling.

maybe it is a way of saying they are a "Stupid Pr*ck" - saves you working it out for yourself later on...rather thoughtful of them isn't it???
