Jesus and the disciples did they actively went from house to house city to city. Now ministers just sit in churches hoping we come to them.

If you have the keys of salvation then should you not be going to the wicked and those spiritually dark instead of keeping it amongst yourselves.

A couple have been critical of J.W. but they are prepared to even be hated among you but they want to put God to you and warn you of armageddon drawing near.
Like Noah tried to warn the wicked world in his day. Won't churches be blood guilty?

Ezekiel 3:17-23 strongly comes to mind here. About being bloodguilty for not warning the wicked.

Aniva so your religion allows you to act that way. So what example are you setting if you have the knowledge to salvation? I probably wouldn't want to know your religion.

First, I like your question and it makes you really think hard about it. But it isn't only the job of the clergy to spread the Word, it's the job of the lay people (everyone else) too. I agree that people should be more open with their faith and talk about it with other people if they are Christians. And some people do. It is just some people don't feel comfortable doing door to door things like that. Then again when did Jesus say it was always going to be easy. I believe Christians have a calling, whatever that calling may be, and they should answer it.

You are right in what you say, we should tell more people, we are getting lazy, but not all. We will always fall short of Gods glory, were human, were defective creatures. Without Christians on the Earth, God would not allow life to go on. Real Christians are not religious people by any means, we are Christ followers, period. We don`t perform manmade rituals like religion does. Religion is man made, not God made. The Great commision is being fullfilled even as we speak, fullfilling Gods plan. The nets are bursting at the seams with the catch of many souls in them. Every man will be given what he deserves in the end, until then we will lead as many to Christ as possible any way we can, radio,TV, Internet, what about that?

People are a lot meaner and less tolerant than they used to be. That could be very dangerous. Also some of the people that do go door to door are very aggressive and put more people off than they bring to church. I do think more people would go to church if they were received better. I've been nearly stared out of church by daring to show up without another member.

Jesus and the disciples preached on hills, in synagogues, and other public places, as well as people's homes they were invited into, so that all who wanted could hear the gospel. They did not go from door to door.
Public teachings, traveling evangelists, and missionaries are still alive and well on Planet Earth. Not to mention, television, radio, and the internet.
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Because its extremely annoying. I hate it when JWs knock on my door when i am sleeping, eating, having a shower or when i discuss something serious with someone. Everybody has heard about Christianity, if they were interested in it, they would come to the church themselves. Knocking on doors makes atheists think that christians are annoying and boring people who try to brainwash them. Im glad they dont visit me more often.

I have enough to contend with the J.W. knocking on my door don't send the Catholics, muslims and Jews too. They will only get the door slammed in their face!

Remember, in Jesus's day this was totally new stuff. In this day and age, most people have at least a passing familiarity with the basic concepts of Christianity. It would be rather like going door to door to teach multiplication.

I'm Southern Baptist and every once in awhile I'll have a JW show up on my doorstep and I can't hardly get rid of them. They are pushy people, I'm not saying all, but the ones around here are. They even try to push open your door when you tell them you're not interested.

If I constantly had Christians coming to my door--------I think I would buy a big dog and teach him to growl and show his teeth. I have a Mezuzah on my doorpost------if they cannot respect my religion, I cannot respect theirs.
Ha! Or maybe I should take Jay Leno's advise and go to the door naked. (As if I'd have the nerve!).

Don't know where you live or what church you're thinking of, but when we moved where we are, we were visited by our parish priest.
Why not knock on doors and tell people about salvation? Actions speak louder than words, my friend.
