A male condom will get 15/100 people pregnant. This means if a couple only uses a condom to prevent pregnancy and have sex 100 times there is a high probability that 15 of those times the woman will get pregnant.
The birth control pill and patch will get 8 people out of 100 people who use it pregnant. This means if a couple uses birth control pills to prevent pregnancy and then have sex 100 times there is a high probability that 8 of those times the woman will end up pregnant.
If a couple uses a diaphragm and have sex 100 time 16 of those times there is a high probability of her getting pregnant.
The list goes on and on. It's so suprising how much people claim to know--yet they don't do the research. I'm with you and I believe that. I've known so many women who have gotten pregnant not only using one method but both. I guess ignorance is bliss.

It's just that even the birth control is only 99% effective, but it has to be done correctly.
Condoms that are pulled all the way up will spill semen. May as well not wear one.
Pills must be taken almost exactly every 24 hours (7 am or whenever every day, not 7 am on Monday, 4 pm on Tuesday, 1 am Wednesday, 10 pm Thursday) or you may as well not take them. If a day is skipped, then the entire month is ruined and probably the next month also.
If the pills aren't taken EXACTLY as they should, then the variance in hormones can allow an egg to be released (pills keep eggs from being released).
Sponge/Foam/Diaphram is Russian Roulette since most people don't know what they're doing.
IUD is a better choice because the user doesn't have to remember to do anything, but has disadvantages too.

All I know is that my aunt had 2 of her 3 children while she was on the pill. One of those pregnancies was because she was on antibiotics while taking the pill which kind of reduced the effectiveness of the birth control. I also know of two other woman who have gotten pregnant while on the pill. They also took the pill exactly as they should have been taking it. They never missed a dose and always took it at the same time. So it does happen. Whomever thinks it cannot needs to read up a little.

Because they do not factor in human error. 1% is the human error rate given. If a healthy woman takes the pill at the same time (within the same hour) each day, and keeps a regulated diet, then the error rate given is 1%. Some BC pills boast higher effectiveness, however, in studies shown that it literally destroys the egg by hormone OD.
When a woman is even slightly ill, and the WBC goes up even by a little bit, the error rate goes up by 10%! The increase goes up to 50% if she is on an antibiotic. If she misses 2+ days of her pill, the pill is not effective. This is how women say "I got pregnant on the pill".

I don't assume that at all. In fact, all THREE of my hubby's cousins got pregnant while on birth control! One had her baby back in January, the other two are due in November.
