For health reasons, canola oil can be substituted. But, for a substitution of FLAVOR use walnut, almond or hazelnut oil for cold dishes and salads OR corn or peanut oil for sauteing.

Enjoy!

EV olive oil has a better tasting flavor than regular olive oil or canola oil.

If you have never made the dish before, use the canola oil...you won't know the difference.

It depends on what the recipe needs it for. For oiling the pan to saute, no it doesn't matter what kind of oil you use. If it is an ethnic recipe that uses it for flavor, such as a Greek, Italian or Turkish recipe, I would use the olive oil. Incidentally, olive oil is more expensive, but you can usually catch it on sale around the holidays and stock up on it.

YES, extra virgin olive oil has a certian good taste. canola oil does not ( both are relatively healthy oils)

It all depends if you care about the taste. If you don't go ahead. Canola is bland...extra virgin has a distinct taste can be strong.

No, not at all. Canola oil is not quite as healthy for you, so go light on the oil if you can.

yes, it does matter depending on how the recipes calls for it to me used. you usually can substitute it if you are just using it as a lubricant in the pan. but if it is being used as a true ingredient the flavor will be off.
