We have just been on a world trip visiting many countries and we never heard a mention of either 'climate change' or 'global warning' used once.
Yet here on the biased(now admitted) BBC it is used ALL the time.
Is the BBC a servant of HM Taxes.

Re your last comment.. one can only wonder!

Have you ever thought about this global warming business as it applies to the UK...

The UK contributes, at the most, around 2 percent of the world's total CO2 emissions. Hence, if the UK were to be completely 'closed
down' then it wouldn't make that much difference to the world total. Reducing our CO2 emissions by an amount that still allows the UK to function therefore will make little impact on our 2 percent figure. Nevertheless, the government is proposing swingeing new taxes. Even if these taxes have an effect on CO2 emissions the reduction will be insignificant. But our lives, particularly of the poorer paid, will be made more miserable through being forced to pay for these
specious 'green' policies. The USA, India, China, Russia, and other countries which are not taking such draconian steps, will continue as before. Meanwhile we poor Brits will be leading an ever more restricted existence. What makes it really galling is that the views of those who argue against so-called 'global warning' are never given a voice in the media, BBC or others. In the truly severe winter of 1962/63 we were told that the world was moving into a new ice age, now we are assured that it is moving into a period of uncontrollable warming. No wonder many of us have become cynical, and think that the government is using the 'global warming' scare as a clever excuse to raise taxes. (Well, I suppose they have to find some means of paying for the ludicrous war in Iraq.)

I think that evolution is perhaps not the correct term for what you are asking, but I believe that I understand the question.

There is debate on whether global warming is actually happening or not, but for the purpose of this question, I will not start an argument and just assume that global warming is happening. I am not entirely sure myself.

The big debate among the global warming scientists is whether or not we have had a significant impact on global warming. There is geologic evidence which suggests that we have recently been in an ice age, and global warming is the result of coming out of that ice age.

It could be natural, it could be the result of humanity's influence, or it could be both. No one really knows for sure.

This is where I will insert my own opinion. I am not entirely sure that global warming is actually happening. I have seen data on both sides of the argument which would "prove" one side or the other. Further, I think that alot of the things being said in the media are the result of alarmists getting their 15 minutes of fame because disasters sell.

That being said, I do think that we should make efforts to change our attitudes towards materials and the environment. We make things to be thrown away and not to be used for a long time. I think that we need to change our attitudes regarding consumerism.

That is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions...They are like ears. Everyone has one or two.

Have you watched any of the BBC's programmes on global warming. They are not perfect but the BBC are still one of the most trustworthy current information sources.

Climate change is now preferred to global warming as this indicates better why milder winters and warmer summers are not really desirable. The effect will be more extreme weather, storms, hurricanes, droughts and flooding. The world's food supply will be devastated by bad weather and by the climate becoming too hot and dry in the current main production regions. If the icecaps continue to melt large areas of land particularly the very fertile land in river deltas will disappear.

As for Avian's comments 2% is an extemely high figure for one small country. Green taxes act as disincentives to polluters however the money raised should be ringfenced and used to subsidise energy efficiency measures. It is a fact that the less well off pay relatively more for energy than the rich because they cannot afford to put energy saving measures in place which take a few years to payoff. One of the fastest and most effective energy saving measures is loft insulation and this is quite cheap and easy to install. If the government installed free insulation in every pensioners loft there would be an enormous reduction in emissions and fewer people suffering from cold or dying of hypothermia. Similarily an American electricity company once worked out that giving a free low energy light bulb to each of their customers to reduce demand would cost less than building a new power station.

The trouble governments are fixated on big money schemes. Look at David Cameron who is about to have solar panels installed on his home. Fine if you can afford them but beyond the pocket of most people and if he is so concerned why didn't he have them installed years ago? What is needed is a lot of small scale solutions rather than one big fix - ones that can be implemented immediately and not after years of argument.

"evolution" is about genetic mutation -
the weather is not controlled by genes - so it cannot be natural evoltuion.

I don't know what you mean the BBC admitted it is biased - you would have to give some evidence of that.

Climate change happens all the time - so its not biased to say that climate change is happening -(ever heard of the ice ages?)
There is far more evidence to say that global warming is happening - the only people who seem to doubt it are people being funded by the oil industry in the USA.

It's the BBC's job to WARN the globe about everything. But when it comes to global WARMING, I think they get paid by the eurocrats in Brussels every time they print the word.
