If you go directly the the credit bureaus, you will NOT get a FREE report. You must go though the US government authorized site. The address is: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
If you are denied credit you are entitled to a free report from the agency that provided the report on which your denial was based, not necessarily any of the 3 major bureaus. See pages 55-56 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

You are entitled to a free credit report if you are turned down for credit. All three major credit reporting agencies provide free credit reports when you apply for credit and are denied.

There are 3 major credit reporting companies in the US. By law they have to give you 1 credit report without strings.
TransUnion, Experian and Equifax are the crediting reporting companies. You should know that they DO NOT share information between them, so it is possible to have 3 different credit scores.

Dealing directly with the credit agencies, any other promises of credit reports are probably looking to sell your info or sell you something.

Request them from the credit bureaus directly, in writing. Go to www.equifax.com, www.transunion.com and www.experian.com to get the info you need. You're entitled to a free credit report once a year from them.
