Snakes in dreams are thought to represent sexuality. The fertility god Baal was symbolized by the snake, which is probably why the snake in the garden of Eden was made out to be evil.

The more I study dream symbolism, the more I realize it can't really be categorized neatly to correctly interpret it for everyone. If you personally consider it as such, then it probably is. If you practice kundalini yoga, it would likely symbolize the animal-consciousness that you're trying to reach. If you are completely terrified of snakes, it's symbolizing something really scary.

One excellent dream interpretation I read about involving snakes had a woman who was being aided by snakes constantly in her dreams--no matter the circumstance, snakes helped her. She went by dream dictionaries talking about sex and evil, which didn't make sense in this context. She finally went to a Jungian psychologist to talk about it...she'd been in a pretty awful car accident a few years before, and afterwards, due to how impressed she was by the care given by the doctors, became a medical transcriber and was going back to school to be a nurse. When you're looking at a caduceus every day...

Actually, according to dream books, it can be sexual. It is a supposed phallic symbol. If you had a whole lot of snakes, you are feeling frisky.
If you are stepping over them, you are avoiding sex or have a fear.
They can also mean a disruption or loss of control in your life. They can be a sign that evil is lurking.
It just all depends on context.

In Genesis, God casts the serpent out and made it eat dust, so, it took it's legs from it all the days of it's life.

Maybe in a dream it could also signify temptation.

A snake , in a dream, I believe, resembles a feeling that you encountered , while sleeping. It was not Satan. It was your feelings , creating an image , in reaction to your current thoughts at the time.

Wether it was evil or not, depends on how you felt at the time.

Everything is read by feelings. And feelings read everything.

Listen to your gut, and you will know.

Dream interpretation is not that straight forward. These books of universal dream symbols are 98% nonsense. If you were having dreams with snakes in them I would ask you how the snakes made you feel, and what did it mean to you.

According to a wise old lady in Alabama I know, dreaming about snakes means you have enemies....the more snakes in your dream, the more enemies you have. Evidently, this is a common belief among older folks in the South.
Of course, they also believe that if your baby has an earache, you should pour piss in his ear....
Go figure!

No. Dreams are related to your experiences in life. If some body has snake dreams, it is probably because this person has heard or seen so many stories about the animal.

Snake and Dragon shares the same word "Naga" in Sanskrit and Pali language. There is an olden Chinese saying that, if it's a dragon, it belongs to the sky; and if it's a snake, it belongs to earth. So, heaven and earth; fire & air and earth & water, are actually one thing.

I hate snakes, I'm glad I'm not having your dreams. I can't see where having dreams about snakes has anything to do with sex.
