taurus can be a good car, especially newer than 2000. there wasn't many problems with them since they fot rid of the older motor. i've worked on alot of tarus, but every car is different. in general, i think they are reliable. but have this one looked at before you buy, as you should any car.

It depends on how the car was maintained. All used cars even if they are the same model are different. If the mechanic says it's bad is he referring to that car or model of car?
Go with a Subaru Legacy if yo are looking for a wagon or Toyota Camry or Honda Accord if you want a sedan.
If you want a domestic product try a Chrysler Sebring.
Just make sure there are service records to back up the car and keep it maintained.

If a mechanic told you that it was not a good car then get a second opionion. My father had a Ford Taurus for about ten years and but they do not make cars like they use to. Get a second opionion and decide how long are you trying to keep the car. Or go to Carfax, my husband said that Ford Taurus is not a good car.

I bought a 2003 Taurus, had it for 1 yr now, Love the car! It would probably depend on how well it was maintained by the previous owner(regular oil changes, etc.) If you can, take the car to a mechanic and see what he says.

If I might recommend an option religious reply: there *is* a truly Devil, too, you already know. That could account for Ford Tauruses, humans who speak about intimate trade on a phone mobile within the core of McDonalds, 'Easy Open' applications that ain't, the gawd-terrible tune they play whilst you are on preserve for an hour, and among the different horrors of state-of-the-art dwelling. Edit: And after studying among the solutions you are getting, I observe that I forgot some of the worst offenders wrought through the Devil's little cloven hoofie: People without a humorousness or the absurd.

We have a 97, 4 door and over 205,000 miles on it and we have had the usual problems with it, but is has been pretty dependable for us. And still runs good even with an oil leak.

Who knows.
I prefer new cars , cause I think that the car must have only one owner.
Think about it and be observant , good luck :)
