my little cousin has been suffering with outbursts for about 3months now, he is 18 years old and i think it is a result from depression, his father is not in his life and he has alot of anger twords him and his mother for that, he has ran completely across town in order to "save his father" he said, he has waken up and not have any recolection of who my mother was, whom he was staying with at this time, he charged at her, said she wasnt his autni, and that he didint know her and forced her out of the house, he smokes marijuana, and was put in the hospital at the time of his first out burst, they said he had a chemical embalance, and this was causes the out bursts, but now he is in a center, for children with mental issues, and he seems to be back to normal, accept he cant remember all of the outbursts basically none of them, he remembers bits and peices of time, is it possible for depression to cause memor loss? what other possible things could be wrong here, what is best for us to do?

His chemical imbalance may be the source of his memory loss. When the brain lacks certain chemicals, it does not function in the usual way. People suffer from blackouts, memory loss, depression, mental illness cos of chemical imbalances. The doctor would have prescribed medications to correct the imbalance. Hopefully that would take care of the problem. No reason why your nephew cannot live a normal life. Having him see a psychologist may help narrow down if there are other causes for his memory loss/depression.

Im not really sure of the reasons but it sounds like he is manic depressive or bye polar, split personalities. That could be the reason he doesnt remember some of the stuff, because it "wasent him". Sometimes it can take a while but they can find the right mixture of medications that will help him, but since everyone is different and there bodys run "chemically" different then they cant just put everyone that has this problem on the same meds. It will take time but if this is his problem then they can fix it and get him back to his old self. Good luck, i have some family and friends that have been though this, it does get better.

so times when you dont want to remember things you put them out of your mind and try to not remember them..there is a possibility that he is lacking attention so in order to get any attention from his family or who ever he tries to do things that will catch attention. maybe you should take him to as psychiatric hospital and get them to diagnose him for something.

He probably needs intensive treatment. He didn't get this way overnight and it will take a lot to get him back to 'normal'. A lot of treatment and a lot of love and support.
