The 'chase' as you put it, never stops. You continually strive to win her approval which makes it all the more interesting. You can't take a relationship for granted as 'fish in the sea' works both ways. There is a difference between 'chasing' and stalking and I'm sure you will know when you've crossed it. Don't harass her, be sincere and honest and if she feels she does not want you near her, she will tell you and leave it there.

Man, the last time I chased a woman was about 1970. Then I married her. If I remember right, I quit chasing cars about the same time. Yes. I have been a dog at one point of my life. I'm sure it is the male conquest thing but when they get to a certain age, having your partner with you means a whole lot more than chasing skirts.( Do women wear skirts anymore?)

I dont think there is a standard answer to your questoin. Depends on who the guy is and how much you like him.
I think if a man continues to chase a woman after she has clearly told him she is not interested, is considered as stalking.

Send her gifts, of expendable items, that have a short life. Flowers,
Fruit...
and, each, with a note, your simple poem, or prose, signed.
Here I send, with this missive,
Fruits so fresh, am I permissive?
If you like both, them and me,
then, on your table they will be.
And, upon my seeing
where they are being
will I know to keep from fleeing...
Or some such... you are probably a better poet, being young and in love, than this long time happily settled man.

Continue the chase as long as she's giving some positive response to it.

If you need to ask this question - you wouldn't understand the appropriate answer. Women are people not objects.
