Yes. But the real question is, can you live without a codpiece?

If you were to be transported back in time Oysters and Lobster were considered to be the dishes for the poor as they were so prolific. I can remember a time when Chicken was a dish generally eaten at Xmas time and not at others because it was expensive pre battery farming methods. What we eat is a social exercise as well as a financial one, look at the consumption of rabbits in the UK, something we should eat more of because of its abundance, yet ignored by the majority because of the fluffy bunny syndrome. Don't worry if you cannot get Cod. If we leave it alone we may have some to eat in the future, be a little more adventurous and try something else!

If you really can't live without it despite it being seriously endangered, it is being (organically) farmed in teh Shetland Isles. Buy Shetland Isle Cod, help a small community's economy and feel guilt free. Start asking for it in fishmongers/chip shops (unlikely but try) and demand will go up and it will become cheaper, easier to get etc.

Of course you can... and live well without it too!
Unless a lot more people do - and soon - then your local chippy will be needing to find stranger and stranger fish to put on the menu!
Then we will be in a world where EVERYONE lives without cod - coz there won't be any.

In these days of payment by 'plastic' it would seem that Cash On Delivery (C.O.D.) is fast becoming out-dated. Pretty soon, we'll all be without C.O.D.
(I know you mean the fish! - by the look of your photo, you could easily live without the cod, but not the batter or the chips!!!)
