People need to find them again. Say what you want about my grandfathers generation. But they were much politer to each other. (except a slight racism). I think social etiquete has been lost. We are all too cool these days.

AGE has very little to do with manners! After having just spent the last twelve months travelling around the world and experiencing different cultures I know what I am talking about. It is all about the way you are raised and the environment you are brought up in. Your own personal values and beliefs, mainly influenced by your parents, are what influence your manners.

There are lots of rules people argue about, but the bottom line is good manners is whatever it takes not to hurt peoples feelings, or make them feel awkward, it's doing whatever helps things along and go smoothly and easily. So if there's a "right" way to hold a fork, that might be good manners because it means getting peas into your mouth more easily, but it's not good manners to embarrass someone next to you by telling them in front of everyone else that they're doing it "wrong".

Manners like standards have eroded ove the last 20 - 30 years and the blame lies within the family. People blame the government, church, education system, police, society and press, basically anyone else other than themselves

You are what you can be, not what you are willing to accept. Want respect, then show some.

Basically someone who does not practice good manners is showing themselves to be ignorant and unsociable! About the only thing which reliably conveys who you are to the world is your behaviour, not the clothes you wear or the car you drive or how much money you have. If a person cannot conduct themself with diplomacy and dignity then this speaks volumes about who they really are. Manners cost nothing yet if you have them you are rich indeed.

Lotsa teens do have good manners.................Its just the ones that don't(which may outnumber the ones that do) give the others a bad name. So PLEASE be NICE. Use your MANNERS and show RESPECT to everyone even teens. I do agree that it manners prolly arent as important as they once were but you cant put a name on a group. Its only certain people.

I was raised to believe that manners maketh the man
which means how he treats others, earns respect from others
old fashioned table manners, courtesy, a please and thank you and a little patience goes a long way.

out shopping yesterday in the rain with my elderly mother, she was putting up her umbrella in a shop doorway when a very rude bloke said hay you move it, get a move on your in my way, he shoved her out the door, he only had to say excuse me she wasn't taking that long he gave her a gob full of abuse as he stormed off the women with him looked really nervous and upset

he' didn't half make himself look like a complete and utter *** hole I hope someone shoves his mother like that see how he likes to see her hurt and upset from the conflict with a rude bloke like him. .
