If a man can go back to the first stage or try to make him a farmer in a way stopping keeping a step forward to the mechanical world that we live, a man must be able to keep a foot back out of it. as a matter of fact first to save the man kind he must be so care full of his food that in the millennium we mostly get fast forward food which make our life shorter than we should live. The most important thing is the less of forests if one can plant one tree each day & be a neature careing person we could some what save the planet from his part.

The end of the world is not preventable. It'l happen as the sun burns all of it's nuclear fuel.
We can starve off the effects which are killing the planet such as population out of control. burning of fossels fuels, stop using ozone killing chemicals and sprays.
We can make legislation which would force industry to trun every product which is not environmentally friendly into one which is.
We can turn our sewer into fertilizer.
We can force all manufacturers to make al products biogradable or easy to rcycle.
We can stop all industry, and commercial institutions, cities and
individuals form dumping anything into the water anywhere.
We can make more procucts out of material not processed form oil or chemicals.

as investigations have shown indaviduals can do a small amount so like you said stop driving gas guzzling cars etc but the people can't reduce the amount of gases by much. the real changes need to be made by government and industry, like making the majority of power plants using green fuel, less airliners/flights available.
So in affect it is up to world leaders so we are more than likely doomed as they sit and talk too much and do no action.

- Change your light bulbs to energy efficient
-Buy a car that utilizes a blended or alternitive energy source, even if it means giving up some preformance.
-Use public transportation whenever possible. Help your public transportation system know what they can do to help make it easier to use their services.
-Recycle any materiel you can. Demand that your local sanitation system developes a recycling program.
-Plant a many trees as you are able in your yard.
-Walk. Ask your local ploitions to build side walks and bike lanes. Ask them about possible incentives to taxpayers who walk or bike to work and shop.

I've got to disagree with fem22. If everyone changes just one thing they do, it will certainly make a difference - about 6 billion differences actually. I think everyone should try growing just one type of vegetable in their garden/windowbox.
