Because when we repent, we clean our conscious, and when conscious is clean, we feel lighter and happy, and so we have peace deep in our heart, and when there is peace , we start enjoying everything and get courage to give our life a new starting.It is our conscious when decides our happiness and sorrow ..I think it is always nice to repent........if you are feeling heavy with your guilt.

Anyone practicing non-resistence to the world around them finds great joy. It has nothing to do with religion but simply your own frame of mind.
