It causes damage by destroying the sacs that take the oxygen from the air you breath. This can cause a number of diseases including asthma, and emphysema.
Once you damage your lungs, they do not repair themselves. If you smoke, and you quit, then you stop further damage.

Come on now, you've seen all the literature about lung cancer. One more thing that hasn't been mentioned. It makes you short of breath and unable to enjoy many of the things non-smokers enjoy. That is anything that requires stamina. BUT MOST OF ALL, IT MAKES YOU SMELL LIKE A CIGARETTE! When you come in a room, everyone that does not smoke, can SMELL you right away!!!

i did a biopsy on the lungs of a man who died from lung cancer. his lungs were not only black and looked like tar, they had bubbles full of puss all over them. the bubbles spread to his ribcage. it was the most disguisting thing that i have ever seen. smoking is horrible.

it blackens them and makes them extremely unhealthy and thats not good because u breathe with the help of your lungs
