Pets can get very close to your heart strings. I have experienced this many times since I was a kid and it does not get easier. Just think of the good times and know that your dog will be waiting on the other side of the rainbow bridge for you. It you have not heard that story then search on google and read it. I found great comfort when I lost my dog last year. It says that your dog goes to heaven and has a beautiful place to run and play and they are happy but missing someone until you arrive and they run across to meet you when you go to heaven.
If possible you should replace your pet with a loving, homeless pet at the local shelter. They will help your heart more than anything else.
Take care.

Maybe you could make a scrapbook of photos that you'd taken of your dogs. Do you know the person who is keeping your second dog? If so, maybe you can go visit her every once in a while. The pain is going to hurt for a while; that's natural. I usually feel intense emotional pain for a few days, and then it gradually eases away. I always have an empty space, but the sad memories are usually overcome by the happy ones.

well.. first of all... sorry.
Keeping pets adds fun and excitement into our lives but when they leave, it's sad. Some people cannot get over their deaths and got another one after that.
Maybe u could get another dog? But u have to face another period of sadness when it leaves again 10 years later..... But time will heal the pain.
I lost my pet rabbits about more than 15 years ago. It was really sad as it was poisoned by construction materials thrown by the neighbours to our garden. I cried whenever I hear a particular song (it really signifies their passing during that time), but the pain has subsided a few years later and what I did to cope with it is to think of the experience we went through keeping it and not think about how it died.

I have had really bad luck when It comes to dogs, I lost a dog about 2 years ago. He died for no reason he was a healthy puppy =(
So I really sympathize for you, The only thing that will make you feel better is to get another dog. I'm not telling you to replace your beloved pet, but It will make you feel better...and your departed doggie would want you to be happy.
I wish you luck and hope you overcome this grief, trust me...I know from experience that it's horrible. I'm so sorry.

Hey.. I'm sorry..
Try not to see any dog pictures in magazines or newspapers.. & try not to think about dogs as much as possible. with time, u will see that u r going to forget about them gradually.. trust me it won't take too long.. make ur mind clear of DOG ideas..
another solution is to buy another dog which looks like the one that died even if u loved the old one alot and spent many years together (that's if u couldn't forget the one that died & the other u had to give away)
