supposed to be one of the best foods. He always looks at me like he did something wrong and I feel sorry for him because he is getting sick. Could it be that he gets into the litter box and eats my kitties poo? I guess I'll have to take him to the vet tomorrow.

Does your sheltie actually vomit, or could it be regurgitation (often tubular in form)? Does it happen right after eating or some time later? How long has this been going on? Is it after every meal? Do you feed anything other than Nutro (dog treats, human food, etc). There are several things that could cause vomiting and/or regurgitation. Going to the veterinarian is a very good idea. Perhaps it is something he ate, but he could be sick or obstructed.

Eating the kitty poo shouldn't be making him sick. However, although the food that you are feeding him is one of the best, he could still be allergic to it or it just isn't agreeing with him. One of the best non-allergenic foods is Eukanuba - talk to your vet about it. Also, you can stop him from eating the kitty poo by simply buying some MSG to put on your kitty's food - that will make the kitty's poo taste bad and he won't want to eat it any more.

Is he vomiting his food or is it bile?
Many puppies vomit bile in the morning (before they eat). It's not that uncommon, they usually grow out of it. If you give him a biscuit before bedtime, it usually helps.
If your dog can't keep his food down, there might be some other problem.
Good luck at the vet.

I'd have to ask you, what is he throwing up? Is it actual food or is it bile (yellow)?

It's not uncommon for dogs to throw up bile in the morning. Our dobermans always did that. We used to feed them twice a day and it seemed to help.

As soon as our dogs got up in the morning, we'd give them a dog bisquit so they had something in their stomach. Then after they went out to relieve themselves we'd feed them. That prevented them from throwing up the bile.

We have a 12 year old cat who throws up dry food in the morning after he eats. He eats twice a day but only throws it up in the morning. I switched from dry food to canned in the morning and that seems to have solved that problem.

If that doesn't help then you should take your dog to the vet for a checkup and his suggestions. Best of luck to you and your dog.
