I just recently had my heart broken by someone that I really trusted. It made me realize what I really wanted out of life. I am super determined to achieve all of my dreams now. I met this guy who thinks he is madly in love with me. I do not want to lead him on or hurt him. I like him a lot, but it is hard for me to trust and I just want to take care of myself for once. What should I say to him when he asks about a long term relationship? or says that he has been waiting for some one like me for a long time? Does this sound like a guy just trying everything he can to get in my pants? Or am I just being too harsh?

Could be a little of both..... You need some time to heal and get really comfortable with yourself again. This is a time for personal growth and you should take it.
Don't promise any long term to anyone. It should not be up for discussion at this point....Everybody is in such a rush./
If you truly are what he is looking for then date... You should decide what is going to happen .. but just enjoy now, you are healing and don't need any outside pressures from anyone.

Don't let the fact that some jerk made you distrust men, be your life.... I did, and because of my caution I missed out on the perfect man for me. Trust is fragile, but you have to trust again. Being cautious isn't bad, but allow some trust back....... if you don't, your going to screw up every relationship you have from now on..... was the guy who dissed you worth your ruining your life? NO. Sometimes you trust, and are hurt, but when it comes to the right man, your trust will be rewarded.

No, lots of people feel this way. Do you feel as if he is really into you? If you do don't let the opportunity just run by, if love is there don't leave it behind! But of course if you need time then I'm sure he may understand. Also does a lot of guys use that line with you?????

No you are being perfectly normal , Let him know that for right now you just want your friendship with him . If he is good at heart he will understand and not press further . Tell him you will let him know when you're ready for the next step

It's possible he is being honest, but he could be just trying to get you in bed. Give him a chance, but tell him you don't want to sleep with him. Regardlesof if he stays or not, you'll have your answer.

take it slow. sounds like you've been burned one to many times. if you are intrested in him date him, dont jump into a hardcore relationship so fast. just go out have fun and whatever you guys enjoy doing, but tell him you would like to take it slow, it may work out, it may not who knows. good luck

he's moving too fast for you. tell him to knock it down a notch, you need time to heal.
