You have 2 ways you can go. First is to the EGTF (European Golf Teachers Federation) or secondly the WGTF (world golf teachers federation). They hold diploma courses several times a year at various locations throughout the UK, Europe and the world. Although its not recognised as highly as the PGA it is a professional certificate for teaching golf. You do need to be able to play to a fairly high standard and you have to regularly demonstrate that but if you can than thats the way to go without having to commit to years of learning through the PGA method. Just put EGTF or WGTF in a search engine and you will find the websites.

You can in theory, but its very hard as you will be completely unrecognised by the PGA. Virtually all golf ranges will only hire licensed PGA professionals that have undergone the compulsory PGA Pro School up in lovely old Scotland (for those in UK). You can get qualifications outside of those from the PGA, but most of these teachers are self employed, and its quite hard to find a range that will let you teach there.

It is a 'European Golf Federation' Qualification i think you are looking for but is not really recognised anymore and i have been told it is rubbish. There is a PGA 3 year diploma which is supposed to be the only way to go! you will need to be a decent player though for them to teach you.I dont know why you may not want to become pro but if you are going to learn something as intricate as golf, i would think it better to learn it through practise.but good luck!x

on the English Golf Union website theres a section on how to become a teaching pro,you don`t have to be a pro,you have to have some knowledge of the game and be able to play to a12 handicap,I think, not too sure of the handicap level.

The best ting for you to do is contact your local golf course & make an appointment to see one of the coaches, they will advise you what you need to do & how long it takes etc......good luck in your venture & hey how about teaching me, I would love to learn.
