Does anyone know how people create those beautiful backgrounds using their pictures or other pictures?

I'm guessing that you're referring to the "wallpaper" people set for their desktop backgrounds on their PCs. All you need to do is take a photo that you've shot or any other digital image, re-size it if necessary to fit your current screen resolution, rename and re-save the file, then finally open it in your browser. Once open, if you right click your mouse while hovering over the image you should be given an option to "Set as Desktop Background". Highlight that option and click OK in the box that follows and you should be good to go :D
