I created a Master Restore Disc for my Packard Bell Windows XP Computer. My computer was unresponsive and so I restored my PC. It took about tw hours. Now my computer takes an age to load windows and I cannot access my control panel, install new programs, run new programs or anything. About all I can do is log onto the internet and a few remedial things. This is really upsetting me as I do not know what to do. In my other posts I have posted the exact message I get when I try to do the above. Apart from a sentence of techincal jargon I get "memory cannot be "read"? How is this possible? If I do a destructive restore will it resolve all issues or will I be worse off by not being able to install any programs and not being able to access the www for help? If not how do i do a destructive restore. I had a deadline for Monday and I cannot complete it because I cannot download pdf files as my computer wont let me run adobe or other programs. I can install them but not run them. "read memory"

Ok, Here's what you need to try... Go to Wal*Mart and buy a program called "System Mechanic 6 Pro". This system has a program on it that can fix your computer to restore lost files and also take care of any problems on your hard drive. I used it my self on one of my computers and it works just fine now... If you don't want to buy the program, then if you still have your owner's manual that came with the computer, give them a call and see what they can tell you to do. I can't guarantee that this program will fix everything, but it will do your computer a lot of good. Just put it in the disk drive, then start up your computer and follow all the prompts and the program takes care of the rest. Best of luck to you and yours. - James

Read the awnser I posted to your second question ...you have probably double installed xp...so you have little hard drive left and virtually no memory. Do a destructive restore ....restart the computer ...all the while it is rebooting tap on the f key that your computer uses to take you into settings....if you don't know which f key it is ...start with the most common ones F10, F3 and F2. Each one that doesn't work...you'lll have to reboot again and tap the next one ...then when you get into settings use system restore and choose the destructive restore option ...it will put your computer back to the way it came when you purchased it....then you'll have to re-install all xp updates using windows update.
