Greetings from Canada!

I emigrated here about 30 years ago and love it here! It is a life-changing decision, but I'm sure you will settle in here. I have always found Canadians to be friendly people.

Apartments usually have a fridge & stove and if I were you I would check out used furniture stores or Auctions (my favourites). It is not too easy to rent a furnished place, although sometimes you do see them available.

I live in Southern Ontario and would be happy to give you all the information I can if you want to email me.

Generally flats in Canada even if they are unfurnished will ALWAYS have a fridge and oven. The building may have a laundry room for all the tenants to use. Or the apartment will have a washer and dryer. People who are renting apartments do not purchase their own appliances there! I am Canadian and just moved to the UK and it is very different in the 2 countries when you rent a flat. Before you rent-speak to the landlord about what is included.

It is not common to rent furnished flats...they are usually very expensive. You can get very cheap televisons-but it depends on what you want. A small television can be purchased for under $100 Canadian. Beds can be purchased at Ikea just as cheaply.

As the others said, most apartments will come equipped with at least two appliances. But if you're still curious, just go to sears.ca. Sears is probably the most common place to buy appliances in Canada, and I would think that their prices are pretty competitive.

As for furnished appts, they are hard to find, and you'll either have to pay a lot or find yourself something with outdated decor.

Good luck
