when we get pissed of someone we say Toz ,,, & Toz in you ... i tried to search in al Dictionries & didn,t find any . some peopole say it,s turkish origin ? & it means salt ??? is it true ?

In Turkish toz means dust, powder. If you tell someone to "be toz" (toz ol!) you tell them to disappear, to get lost.

One of your answerers says it means salt, but it's wrong. In Turkish "tuz" means salt, and "toz" means dust or powder.

Toz literally translates into Salt. There is a funny story behind the way Toz is used. It all started during the Ottoman rule in Egypt when salt was the only commodity allowed through customs after dark. Traders used to passby the customs officials and shout TOZ to alert them that they are carrying salt and want to pass through, while other products have to wait till the morning.

The word TOZ evloved as a word that protests against authority, if you say TOZ, then no one can stop you and it further developed into a word often used during arguments.

Toz is of Turkish origin meaning Salt, today it is used in Arabic to signify that something is inferiour or insignificant.

turkish people when the enter an aerport long time ago when they were asked what there is in the luggages they said toz meaning salt
