Was a girls body taken over by the devil like in the movie? are there people out there that study to do exorcisms? has it happened more then once?

Yes, the movie is loosely based a actual events. In reality, it was a little boy who was possessed by several demons. Things like this have been happening for millennia and are probably getting more frequent. Satan has more power in the world now, because we deny his existence. The only people with the ability to perform exorcisms are Catholic priests. Most exorcists are specially trained - not just your average, every-day priest. The top exorcist at the Vatican has recently written a book (within the past five years I'm guessing). He is a Cardinal, but I can't remember his name. You can probably find the book by searching on Amazon.
Oh, and "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" is also loosely based on actual events. I read the true story - much, much scarier than the movie.

I know that the movie is based on a real story some things were changed like instead of it being a girl it was a boy, and it is based out of St. Louis Missouri. From what I know it is a Catholic belief, not sure if other religions practice this or not. Yes others have been supposedly possessed by the devil.

The story might be true that they did the exorcism because they thought the girl was possessed. But, this is a ridiculous idea. No one can be possessed. Again, I think it is something made up by the Catholic Church to control people.
Did anyone actually take the time to read Kim's horribly long ''cut and paste''?

well no it's not really based on a true story, but i suppose these incidents are somewhat real - if you can bend your mind to believe in the spiritual realm. Try the "exorcism of emily rose" - this movie is based on a true story.

about 200-600 years ago, people believed in things like theese, once man told the story to local newspaper and they done a film based on the man's story.

It is true , demons can sometime occupy a body, Yes theres demons,I saw some once as a child of four, with a greenish light in the room flying around my brothers bed, I screamed .the spirit of god will protect you. if you have it in your heart. other wise they can sometimes influence you in many ways

I have heard that demon possession is real. I think that if the person believes in demon possession and that it is possible, then they could be possessed. Also are we so civilized that we stopped having the ability to actually see and be aware of 'demons'? The more 'primitive' societies believe in demons strongly.

Look around you on any given day. You don't see people who are possessed and/or oppressed by satan and his demons.
Read about "unclean spirits" in your bible.

no, its not true. People CLAIM it is true, but these people that are "possesed" are probably nothing more than schizophrenic.
There has never been one single case where someone was verified as being possesed, NOT one
