I'll say none of the above. better to learn karate because it is streetwise and you don't have to search for weapons when danger comes. All you need to have is your feet and hands. It is much disciplined and you'll know how to counter attack a person with a weapon (even with blades). When you know karate, you can invent some moves for some really hard situations

Kendo (剣道 Kendō) or "way of the sword", is the martial art of Japanese fencing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kendo

Iaidō (居合道), approximately "the art of mental presence and immediate reaction", is a Japanese martial art associated with smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard or saya, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard or saya. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iaido

Jodo (Japanese:杖道), or Jojutsu(japanese:杖術), is a Japanese martial art using staves (jo), similar to bojutsu, in defense against the Japanese sword. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jodo

If it's a choice between those 3 (or any martial art) find clubs in your local area that do them and have a lesson or two. There are 2 things that make up a person's minds when choosing a Martial Art:

1. The Martial &
2. The Martial Art club/association that you go to.

Hope this helps.

Kendo is better for self defence with a sword. If you want to learn it I suggest buying a japanese kendo pratice bamboo stick sword.
