I have heard of maggots being used to eat dead flesh, such as seen with gangrene. However, it would be very rare to use them for this purpose. The idea behind it is that they can tell the difference between healthy and dead tissue and will leave the healthy stuff alone. All this is done on the outside of the body. I can't imagine anyone introducing maggots to someones internal organs.

Maggots eat dead flesh, gangrenous flesh to be exact.
It's a good idea and ideas like this are those that lead to new discoveries but, it won't work.
During WW2 and again in Korea and Viet Nam prisoners of war used this method to ward off infections using maggots to eat dead flesh and so, ward off gangrene.
