You have to remember, when life was created, it was to be on a paradise earth. The paradise earth will indeed be here. There are too many prophecies promising us this. Since we are not under the intended conditions, we will not know all purposes of life for a while. Man was given dominion over the earth and animals, and that will return. And really----do we need to know the purpose of the life of a rabbit? If not knowing stumbles you, I doubt any answer would appease your curiosity anyway. The word 'soul' has three uses in the Bible. The main use though is that man 'is a soul'. "barren planets and stars?"! I don't think the universe is that dreary. When it appeared, the angels applauded with praise. Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Isa 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust.........; and man became a living soul. Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? 2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Our world is a system of checks and balances. To keep any
one form of life from dominating all the others. Predators,
poisonous things, disease, all help to maintain this system.
Look at Ebola. It was a virus that kept jungle plant life from
taking over. Then we interefered in that ecosystem, and humans
are getting ebola now.
I've learned from studying shaman teachings, that there are
actually spiritual entities that help to break down psychic
matter, just like bugs, and bacteria do on the material level.

God created no such thing. Everything physical is a result of God's Son becoming afraid, falling into sleep, and dreaming he is separate from his Father. But he remains whole perfect and complete, in perfect peace.
