Not really what you're asking for but the best place to teach is in the Philippines, Manila. I live there. Philippines is best in talking English in the whole Asia. People are nice here!

Yes, there is quite a demand for teaching english in Asia. Many are "requiring" a TESL or TESOL certification before you can apply. Though some schools would accept you without the certification. And probably you will earn more if you do have this certification. And in some cases you will have to work at more than one school to survive in the country you choose. I just started researching this but, this is what I have found to date.

Good luck.

You should look into Taiwan. I'm from Canada and I've been here for a year. In my opinion it's better than Korea and Japan because the rules are not as strict and you will not be expected to teach ridiculous hours. It is better money than you can make in China. Please keep in mind this is only my opinion but it is based on my personal experience. Good luck and have a great time no matter where you end up!
As for how to go about doing it... look on www.daveseslcafe.com and www.tealit.com. You'll find great tips and job postings.

The greatest demand is in China. I spoke to a native English speaker teaching at the University of Xiamen, that even my non-native English would do! (that shows the kind of demand they have.)

Try Beijing, Shanghai or any of the other major cities (they have a lot of cities with over 1 million people and major universities, also in mild climate zones :-)
