I'm 17 & I'm studying in a pre university college. I want to buy a cell b'coz all my other friends have it & they sms each other & i feel very bad that i dont have it. If i ask my dad he'll never agree to buy it. So i'm thinking of buying it by collecting my pocket money everyday & buy a new cell without telling anyone in my house am i right in my decision?

Hi Nutan..

Well u have made two good things in your decision..then one is that as u no your parents would wont permit so u are not going against then as the second is that you are saving your pocket money..

Well having cell at your age is not atall wrong..just maybe your parents are bit concerned about you..that if you get a cell then maybe you would be busy chattingwhole night with boys..but that seems to be todays fashion so cant avoid..

Anyways i think you can try and buy one but an sure u cant hide from your parents..so just wait for another few months maybe the modd of your parents change..becos its also a neccesity of life these days..

It's your money...but if you're about to start going to a university and don't have anything but coins and pocket lint to call an income, I'd suggest you keep the cell you have, find another form of steady cash and play games with your phone bill when you can afford the toys...

if you really want a cell because your friends have it, then you should buy it, but only if its with your pocket money, don't buy it if the money has come from any wrong way, its okay if you don't tell anyone in the house, even my friend has done the same. all the best and go for it.

I don't think you should by it based on what your friends have. I think cell phones are great, but my main purpose was to have one in case of an emergency. I remember spending $250 on a cell phone because of the camera. It broke before long and when I went to try to get it replaced, guess what, it was discontinued. Yeah in less than 6 months.

if its something you want, and you can pay for it yourself, i dont see why you cant have it. but do realize that it is a responsibility to pay the phone bill every month, and to make sure you have the money to do so. you also enter into a contract so make sure you understand the terms. (ex. if you cancel the plan early you may incur termination fees.)

well dear its good that ur saving money for ur cellphone, but its not right to cheat ur family. collect d money n then consult ur dad, persuade him for d same. Assure him that u won't misuse it. i am sure he'll understand n agree. Happy Saving !
