You should come down to Phuket to book the tours/trips because I agree that you should see how you want to take things one day at a time. Tour counters are EVERYWHERE so you can enquire, compare prices, and make decisions easily when you are here. Besides, talking to the locals give you a better idea of what the trip will encompass, what to expect, what to beware, what to bring and more sensible and practical advice.

Since you're just checking for activities to do there (and not on your flight tickets / tours), you can always arrive there earlier by a day or two to take some time to check out the local travel agents there in Thailand. You either do this or you yourself plan your activities when you arrive there earlier (there are many info to get for this when you're in Phuket).. This way, you won't waste any of your time to spend on fun-filled activities in Thailand. Travel agents are very easily found in Thailand, especially Phuket too. You can certainly get many good deals in Phuket, as the government is also trying to attract tourists there with a lot of lucrative deals since the tsunami in Dec 2005.

You should shop around when you get there. Phuket is still suffering, to some extent, from the drop in visitor numbers after the Tsunami of 2004. There should be some really good deals to be had on everything from island-hopping scuba trips to elephant trekking on the mainland, even during high season, which starts soon.

Patong is the place you decide directly to stay in case you decide directly to celebration. If no longer, i might advise staying at between the beaches to the north (Nai Yang, Nai Thon). My popular beaches in Phuket incorporate: Kata, Surin, Nai Thon and Nai Yang. Chaweng is the main area in Samui; Lamai is a marginally extra relaxing decision. the great undertaking approximately Samui is that that's straightforward to get to Koh Tao for diving and snorkeling. the main celebration area on Samui would properly be placed at Soi eco-friendly Mango (i'm individually prepared on Ark Bar on Chaweng sea coast). Bangkok has a good deal to do. techniques: Grand Palace Wat Po Wat Arun Ayutthaya (previous historic ruins some million.5 hours north of Bangkok). i might evaluate doing all your procuring in Bangkok so which you do no longer ought to lug issues around. be conscious: Krabi is barely some hours north of Phuket & is a huge area for doing organic events. classes for Bangkok, Koh Samui and Phuket are blanketed under.

Book anything on the spot! You will get quite good deals but bargain for it! Don't look at any crocodile tears in the tour operators eyes - -50% and you're are quite OK!

I waited until I got there because you never really know what you are in the mood for each day until you are there. I did snorkeling and Fantasea and all that stuff with no problems. I found the humidity changed my 'pace' and it was better to improvise each day.
