Im a female in the marine corps, my hair keeps changing coclors. I dyed it about a year and a half ago, but lately it has gone from dark brown at the roots to blond at the tips. I have had to go get it dyed about 3 times in the last month and a half. How much can they make me dye it back to my normal color if my job requires me to be in the sun a lot. Id also like to add that every time I dye it, it costs 60 dollars. When can I just say No? I heard it can be "destruction of government property" Thanks

The requirement for hair regulations is to maintain uniformity within a military population. Women's hairstyles require non-eccentric styles. Female Marines will be well groomed at all times and when in uniform will abide by the following:

Hair may touch the collar, but will not fall below the collar's lower edge. Hair that would fall naturally below the collar's lower edge will be neatly and inconspicuously fastened or pinned. During physical training periods in which physical training clothing is worn, hair will be allowed to fall naturally, without being fastened or pinned. This does not apply when conducting physical training in the utility uniform.

Hair will be styled so as not to interfere with the proper wear of the uniform headgear. All headgear will fit snugly and comfortably around the largest part of the head without distortion or excessive gaps. Hairstyles which do not allow the headgear to be worn in this manner are prohibited.

You don't have to die your hair at all... Hair fades... that is a fact of life. If it starts to go Grey you don't have to die it then do you>????

And as for the Destruction of Government property... Thats a bunch of hoey. That is an old wives tail we used to tell. It's a general threat that isnt practiced. Dont worry about it. Just grow your hair out and get it back to it's natural color. If someone sais anything about it just explain you are going back to your natural color. There is nothing they can do.
BTW.. that is what a court martial is for. To give you a fighting chance against some idiot that chooses to pick on you.

In the Army, you have to get a complete buzz during BCT (Basic Combat Training) which is clippers with no guard. Depending on where you go to basic, they may allow you to get a High and Tight (shaved on the sides and a little longer on top) for graduation. The official army regulation is that it has to be no more than 3 inches on top, off the of your ears, off the collar of your uniform, and have a neat, clean and tapered appearance. It doesn't have to be completely shaved with no guard on the sides, but it does have to be short and have a clean look to it. Most people either shave the sides and leave the top long, shave it all the same length (buzz cut), or Bic their heads (absolutely no hair at all). A number 6 on the sides is a little long, I usually use a 1 on the sides and a 3 on top.

Cut it short and let it grow out naturally. By the time it grows out you will be able to buy a new car. lol. You knew the rules when you enlisted.

Have you considered dying it yourself? It will save you a boatload of money. As long as you're not bleaching it is a great option.
