Put the item in the freezer for about an hour. Take it out and scrape the frozen gum off. It goes "bitty" and is much easier than trying to get the sticky mess off before freezing.

De-Solv-It is a product I picked up at the hardware store in the cleaning aisle. It removes Chewing gum from clothes and crayon from walls and greasy spots from clothing. It is an orange based product. You may not have the same product in your country if you're not from Australia but look for an Orange based product and it should do fine.

Put the item into the freezer for a few days and you should be able to pull and peel it off easily. There is another product out there in an aerosal can that you spray on the gum and it freezes and you pull it off...go to your local hardware store and they should be able to help.

Put the garmet in the freezer or rub ice on the gum until its frozen solid, then peel or pick it off.
Don't wash the clothing before doing this, you will make it embedded in the threads.

As with other answers - like wax - freeze it and chip off as much as you can ..... you will probably be left with a grease mark - this can easily be dealt with by placing a folded piece of kitchen towel under the mark and then dabbing with some cottonwool that has some lighter fuel (the liquid petrol for lighters) ,,,, this should dissolve the stain and then you can wash it as normal.....

use cotton wool behind the gum and sprinkle a little petrol on the area then rub with more cotton wool the petrol desolves the guar gum and allows it to be removed . then wash the item as normal to remove the smell of petrol .
