Got a new PC with CD/DVD burner. Is it possible to copy Windows as a back-up? How do I go about it? Nice and simple instructions please.

Thanks.

Well, the simplest way is to download backup software.
I'd suggest Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1
This backup software can easily transfer all the data Ur current HD contains (including the OS).
Besides, using Universal restore feature while restoring it solves
problems related with drivers.
regards

If you have Nero or any other cd/dvd software you can do a complete system backup which will also backup windows. Should you have a problem in the future you simply restore your backup and carry on. Not sure if the Windows disk itself will fully backup.

Go to start > run > type ntbackup , a backup and restore wizard will get opened , select backup files and settings >my documents and settings>select to backup All information on this computer>save your backup on your local disk. Once saved , the same filed can be burned and later restored in the same way using the wizard .

i know you can make a backup disk or disks depending on age of your computer by going into windows system whilst you are using it im not too great with this but i know its there try going into windows explorer look at the list of options, not at the files like windows C:/ D:/ but where it says open explore etc i know you can create a backup disk via these options

Norton Ghost is your best bet. It makes a complete compressed image of your HD which can be squirted back on in times of need.
