The man is retiring from the top position of a plant. I worked under his guidence some years back and learned a lot.

In the journey of Life, we often meet and depart people, as life moves on.....but some people like you bring a meaning to other life, by touching their lives in a special way.....by sharing what you know and by caring for them....in a similar way you have touched my life.
On this day "Date" when life will still continue to move on ....memories of special person like you would always remain in my heart.....We will miss you Sir._________.

you need to highlight his achievements his positive points remembering some lighter moments & ending with a bit of emotional touch.

it is with great pleasure and relutance that im sending him off. he has contributed a lot in ___ and worked for ___ years. he has taught me ___ and he's a gem to us. i wish him all the best in his retirement years.
