Finding a therapist trained in behaviorism & cognition would be a good start. In a nutshell, what the therapist will do is help you change your belief about feared object, then help you thorough various processes to extinguish that fear. Specific phobia's aren't that debilitating though, unless you happen to live in a spider infested building, then it might be a problem :)...good luck!

OKAY WERE I LIVE ( australia)
WE HAVE THE WORLDS MOST DANGEROUS AN VENOMOUS SPIDERS well ive had to grow up with heaps of creepy crawlys like in some ways worst then spiders ,..like certain ticks that live in the bush an can smell you and bite can be way worse then any spider these little fellows get as small as a pin prick and they can bite you anywere then if you dont pull them of you right there head srews off an borrows into your skin they have been related to Alzeheimers an for mental disorders..(they only running around here in AUSTRALIA 2 )
i been bitten a couple of time by diffrent spiders the thing with these little fellows is that they can only bite you on your hands feet joints most people get bitten in the garden like myself(so were z gloves) or in there boots when they forget to check them(like myself again) most spiders that live around your home keep the bad spiders away even our most deadlest spider the FUNNEL WEB they only live every so many acres 1 per say 4acres because they are very territorial so the chances of running into that one a narrowed down..then if you dont live in australia you havent got much to worryz about plus look up the facts how many people actually get bitten etc the ratio would be 1 in 1billion so dont worryz youself cause some people can create there own fears...
anyway i hope that worked if you know any wayz i can get over this kangawallafox phobia can u share it with me?

get some daddy long leg spiders and put them in a tube and stick ur hand in it will feel a bit creepy at first but there fangs are to short to bite a human so they will crawl all over you and you wont get hurt. u might get a little tiny bite but they dont hurt and it wont have enough poison to kill you. just see how long u can last or the second thing u could try is put on a toadily covered suit and just find some spiders to crawl over u i must admit i am scared of them and have tryed the ideas that ive told u and it sorta works but there is no cure u could try to go to a consellor and they will change ur thoughts about spiders the other way so u will love them

As with any fear, you must confront your fear with rationality. Understand that most spiders and all craneflies are absolutely harmless. Learn which spiders are harmful (black widows and brown recluse, to name the main ones) and don't handle them. Find a person who has a pet tarantula and hold it. After awhile, the fear will subside and you will see how ridiculous it is and laugh it off. Craneflies??? You're kidding, right?

No cures for phobias, besides psychotherapy. You can treat anxiety that roots in phobias - in phobic situation, but to overcome phobias, you need thepaphist and in order to make it effective it also requires lot of co-operation and the work from your side.

As that's a pychological issue, the preferred methods will vary. I would assume gradually increasing exposure and education is the most common method used.
