From what I know, it works because your are shifting the focus of your emotional pain to physical pain so it's an emotional relief to feel some other type of pain. That's why it makes you feel a little less bad.
But you know you should talk to someone about it because you don't want to continue physically hurting yourself. There are other ways to deal with your pain and a therapist can definitely help you with that!! Good luck with it.

ur body produces endorphins 4 the pain & will when it kicks in make u feel better. & as we all know physical pain is easier 2 cope with than emotional/mental pain.
find some1 educated 2 discuss self-harm with.
like all things, self-harming has a limited shelf-life & the ease u get from cutting urself will not work 4ever.
get some help, please.

Because physical pain draws attention from the mental, inner pain. But you know selfharming is not healthy, and you totally should seek help. You live in the 21st century and your inner pain can be treated.

i used to do this to and for me it felt like all the bad feelings were draining out with my blood. this truley is not the answer to problems. you will of heard this before but please try talking to someone you trust or visit your doctor. if you continue to harm yourself you could end up seriously damaging yourself just to get the 'fix'. also try the samaritans . i wish you all the best.
