I need to convert 15 pounds of torso fat into arm, leg, and butt muscle. How do I do this? Is it possible to burn fat without burning muscle?

You can "effectively" convert fat into muscle by exercising the muscle in question - but the fat does not morph into muscle - you burn fat and build muscle fibres.

One thing to be wary of getting toooo muscly is that if you stop exercise, then slack muscle can look a little like fat if you WERE heavily developed and then let it all go somewhat.

The consolation is that you can usually get the muscle back into tone quite quickly.

As for arm leg and butt, then if these are the parts being worked on, they are the ones that will gain the extra muscle mass. As for burning fat and not muscle - if you aim to eat your normal quota of calories - then it should be mostly fat you burn to make up the modest energy shortfall.

If you starve your body, then yes you will be losing muscle mass as well as fat from one part of your body to put muscles mass on somewhere else. Not a great plan.

It's quite impossible. The two are separate and one can not be turned into the other. Whoever came up with that term is way off. You burn off the fat with exercise and diet, and you build muscle with weight-bearing exercise.

Bugger. I meant to point it out that fat cannot be converted to muscle, but everyone else beat me to that. By the way, if you're thinking of spot reducing only, please don't ride on the hopes of success. A trainer friend of mine said even guys with six pack abs need to do cardio exercise at least half an hour daily to maintain the abs.

You cant covert ft to muscle. You have to burn the fat and build muscle. To help accomplish your goal though, try running to burn fat from your stomach and help build your legs and but. Lift weights to help with your upper body

Proteins are composed of amino acids most of which are not capable of being synthesized by our bodies, thus conversion is not possible. Otherwise, the answer to your problem is EXERCISE, exercise, .exercise.

..................................
Fat + exercising = muscle

Fat + excercising + healthy diet = muscle + six pack (bonus)

Fat + Drugs
(no need to excercise) = Muscle + Six pack + nice abs (Bonus)

Fat + sleeping(build fat) + Tv + junk food+ fast food (no need to excercise)
= Fat² + low memory (Bonus)
