Well, It all depends how often he does it. Once or twice a day for a short term is JUST okay, but for the long run for the rest of his life might not be a healthy . These things a friend can only suggest an idea, but its all about your friend self-control.

Kidney failure is a concern, but another one is gout (yes that 17th century disease). When you have too much protein, your body breaks it down to store as glucose, it releases uric acid and that's what causes your joints to hurt like hell. It's not much fun.

Once a person's daily requirement for protein is met, further consumption can be considered as caloric intake, so overeating will make that person fat.
