i had three children and breast fed them all. the longest was my last child which lasted 12 months. its up to you and your baby to decide when you should stop. each child is different. you will know when they need more or are ready to stop breast feeding.

I stopped nursing when he was 6 months. Once I started him on solid foods, he started refusing to nurse. I would've nursed him a lot longer.
I think it's great that you're nursing your twins. That takes a lot of dedication! You can nurse your twins as long as you want--or as long as they'll take you. Just know that some kids will naturally stop wanting to nurse. That'll happen at different ages--some 6 months, other 4 years old! Even if one decides to stop nursing, the other may continue. So the answer is: as long as breastfeeding works for you and your children.

I had a friend who breastfed and she said when the baby starts playing with the breast more than feeding it's time to stop. Personally I think three is a little extreme and would aim for at least one year and then see from there myself. If the baby is still doing fine with breastfeeding I'd keep going.

I have two children. My daughter I breastfed until she started biting me. She was 14 months old, didn't want to take any solids and was biting me hard enough to leave marks. My mom and great aunt and I decided that that was enough. It was Thanksgiving day and so there was all kinds of good food on hand and they just took her over and started feeding her stuff off the table. We did it in one day. My son decided he was done breastfeeding when he was about 11 months old. He had been eating solids for some time and he just started refusing to nurse.

Hi xoxo_dumbblonde,
I quit breast feeding my oldest son at 6 months he had two teeth,
my oldest daughter was allergic breast, formula, took 1 month to figure that out finally drank soy milk, my youngest daughter I breast feed for 9 months,
youngest son I feed 6 months he got 2 teeth,
My youngest sister feed her daughter until she was 2 years old-that's when she quit she bit her hard & that ended that. Besides breast milk is the best thing you can feed a child fewer allergies.
Good luck & have a good day! :0)

I stopped breastfeeding my first child at 7 weeks because I had to have surgery, but would like to have breastfed him longer. I breastfed my second son till he was 5 1/2 months old, until he started using my nipple as a teething ring. That is when I stopped. You just have to do what you feel is comfortable for you and your baby.

I breast feed my daughter til 20 months & my son til 21 months. When they started pulling down my shirt in public or demanding it, they were cut off. The american board of pediatrics & La Leache League recommend nursing til 24 months for you & your baby's health. Good Luck, you are doing the best thing you possibly can for your baby!

I have 4 children who I breast fed. My oldest was 5 months when I weaned her and my second was 3 months (I was going to school and working). My third weaned herself at 11 months and my youngest weaned herself at 14 months. There is no age limit to breast feeding. You can continue as long as both you and they want to.

I breastfed until my daughter was 2 years old. I never gave her formula, or soothers.
You can breastfeed your babies however long you want! Your milk supply won't stop as long as it's being used up. It replenishes itself continuously. Try breastfeeding as long as you feel comfortable. (I had a friend who was breastfed until she was 5 years old... I think that's a bit much, although not in some cultures!)

You can breastfeed your kids until they say "Mom, I don't want breastmilk anymore" if that's what you'd like. :D Congratulations on nursing twins - that's impressive! Most people won't even attempt it. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend that you breastfeed at least until one year of age and after that it is up to your comfort and theirs.
