love my lord.... my grandmother is a christian like you and she is an elder in her church and a great friend of her pastor. you are incorrect, it is not against Christianity to READ another holy book... it is against Christianity to BELIEVE another holy book. also, if you want to learn about Islam learn from Muslims..... as with any other faith. i would not consult Hindus to learn about Christianity. the site you sited was not created by Muslims. i wish you all the best in ending your ignorance to the world around you

I am Catholic, I have studied the Quran, and took interest. I see nothing wrong with it. It's definitely an Abrahamic religion. I learned , in contrast to what many on this site have been saying, that Muslims do not accept any icon or color as sacred to Islam as they believe that worshiping symbolic or material things is wrong. I still do not understand why some people call Muslims "Moon Worshipers" since there is no reference to this in the Quran. Most definitely this religion is Monotheistic, emphasis on one God is strong. I have respect for Muslims, and their faith. I respect them as I respect myself, and wish that religious communication and acceptance can occur between people of all faiths. Thank you.
PS. I know many Muslims. One of my sister's closest Friends is Muslim. I like her a lot, but she is in middle school and like all middle school kids is annoying, just like my sister.
I know people who are Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Christian, Atheist, etc. I work, study, and eat beside them. We are all "cool" with each other.

The Muslims I have met have been very positive caring individuals. I wrote an article about this for my hometown newspaper. You can view a rough draft of it here:

http://www.newbie-writers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=186

I have read a very large portion of the Quran. Some of it I do, in fact, find offensive. It DOES state that men are superior to women. But the Muslims I have met have been respectful believers in equality, so I don't think their Holy Book is necessarily a good gauge. The five pillars of Islam all involve devotion to God and caring for others, so if followed correctly, Muslims don't do harm to others.

I am a Christian with many Muslim friends, and I very much like them. I find the Western media portrayal of them to be quite unrepresentative and overly sensational.

i believe islam is a religion that has taken much from judaism. i have read the koran in english, which i realize limits my interpretive ability, but from what i gather, the koran is the only religious book that speaks in negative terms about women and others in certain circumstances. my wife is muslim, i am not, and there is a clear non acceptance of me as her husband, which i find sad and unfortunate because we love each other so much. also, whenever her family calls from india, or other parts of the world where they live, they speak to her as if i don't exist and this offends her. some of them have met me at a muslim wedding recently, and we got along very well, but still, once we parted, i still get the cold shoulder from them. so, my feelings about muslim people has caused me to form an opinion about islam. i like all people but find it sad when meeting a muslim besides my wife.

Is it ok if i give an answer like this?

Ok, of all the muslim people I've met they've been very nice! I love muslims just like anyone else, it's just the religion i do not like! It seems a bit too off for me! I read a bit of the quran and it didn't seem so nice!

Sorry, though, but it's just my opinion!
=)

I do not approve of Islam, as I believe in Jesus as the Son of God
I have not read the Koran (quran) in its entirety, but only passages
I have met muslims and for the most part got on well with them.

Despite my religious differences with Islam, I find most muslims polite hospitable people.
Most of the negative feelings i get are from extremests who taint the message of peace,
Many say that Islam is a religion of peace, but non muslims see terrorism and violent irrational protests as representing Islam.

Moderate muslims often stand back quietly then complain loudly when they see prejudice against themselves from western cartoonists. But they don't speak loudly against those who bring the real blasphemy against their religion.

what is your opinion of Islam?
a scourge to humanity...enuff saud.

what do you base this opinion on?
Reading bits of the the Quran and listening to muslims and their opinions.

have you read the Quran?
bits of it.

Do you base it on what you read in the media?
no, i am objective, i base it on facts, i have a few Muslim friends.

do you know any muslims?
i have many muslim friends, they are not exactly role models of prime people. They like to keep to themselves, they fight a lot and seem to hate each other. Then there are muslims who are very good, but i think their religion gets in the way of them thinking clearly. Generaly the ones i have met are good family people but i also know many who seem like scoundrels.

I don't feel we should judge everyone for what some people did, such as 9/11. No I have not read the Quran, as I am Christian and it is against my religion to read another Bible other than a Christian one, however I have been turned on to websites and have read many answers here about the Quran and alot of them quote things such as that allah says they can kill as long as they don't get caught and as long as it is not their own tribe. Also I have seen answers that say if one should leave the religion they cannot walk away, or they get killed. I don't know how true it is, but here is the website someone turned me onto:

www.islamundressed.com

I hope this answers your question. This is only what I have been told and have read on the internet so please don't take it personal.
God Bless

I think its a good religion (maybe a few flaws)

unfortunately their are members that have used it to explain their violent acts to harm and manipulate people.
