Ambien is for sleep, Valium is for nerves. Take them both. The valium will relax you and make you feel comfortable enough to fall asleep and the Ambien will keep you asleep for awhile.

For relaxing and chilling out ... valium.

For a good night's sleep ... definitely Ambien.

Both are good. Valium is best, because it really relaxes you and there's no hangover effect. Ambien is also good, but doesn't work for everyone. I'd go for the Valium if it's at least 5mg. Good night.

the ambien would work better for actually inducing sleep, valium is more for anxiety and doesn't have as intense of a drowsiness effect. i have always found natural remedies are better for help with sleeping problems, if you have this problem again, try valerian root or melatonin, both can be found at a vitamin store, walgreens, walmart, etc and are wonderful for helping with sleep, and the best part is you do not have the hang over the next day like with prescription sleep medications.

good luck!

There are plenty of alternatives to Rx's such as Calms Forte. counter to another post...when an rx expires, tehy do go bad and can have side effects. The expiration date is based on chemical composition. With time they degrade and change. The Phenegran is probably th only good one you have but there is no guarentte you will not have drowsiness as it has a metablising time of 12-16 hours and can stay with you for 24. Try an alternative or even an OTC.....your better off

If you are prescribed Ambien, that would be the preferred method. If you are not prescribed either, then why would you suffer yourself to that exposure. Run around for awhile, or go get over the counter sleep aids such as Tylenol PM. No need taking medication outside of the realm it was prescribed in.

Ambien is better, you will wake up like normal, not airhead.
