The truth is it's probably no worse than anything else. Alcohol causes more death and misery, but it's legal. Of course, marijuana is stronger than tobacco (smoking one joint is about the same as smoking ten cigarettes), so you're more likely to develop respiratory problems, such as chronic bronchitis. On the other hand, marijuana (or more specifically Tetrahydracannabinol [THC], its active ingredient) reduces nausea, relieves menstrual cramping, reduces pain, increases appetite and has been reported to reduce intraoccular pressure, so it has many medical uses. The problem is you can grow it yourself, and you don't have to buy it from Eli Lilly, Roche, Wyeth, Astra Zeneca or any of the other pharmaceutical giants. If you smoke more dope, you'll probably need less Prozac, Ativan or Valium, and we all know it's Un-American to threaten the profits of the Corporations.
As for the side effects of smoking a lot of dope, well... there are side effects of the so-called "legal" drugs that are far worse. Most of the psychoactive drugs (minor and major tranquilizers alike) cause the same kind of memory problems and birth-defect potential as marijuana. So to repeat myself: It's probably no worse than anything else.

same as anything, it's ok in moderation, but these days so many people are addicted. All their money goes on dope instead of their kids. It also affects their moods and can make them paranoid and bad tempered. It's different to the old days when it just grew as a natural weed, and we only smoked a joint once or twice a week. It was good then, but now it is grown hydroponicly and people suck on bongs all day. Better not to try it in the first place

Personally, I don't think that smoking pot, IN MODERATION, is that bad. I don't think that it's wise to drive (contrary to popular belief, it does affect your driving skills), but I really don't think it causes that much harm. It becomes a problem when it's a daily ritual and you spend more time in front of the TV with your mouth half open than you spend doing things that you need to do (take a shower, go to work, learning to spell, etc).

People can develop addictions to anything. And addictions are always bad. If smoking weed is adversely affecting your friendships, job, school, etc then stop, analyze how it changes your behavior and decide if it's really worth it.
But if it isn't adversely affecting your life, then it's not bad is it!

I have smoked it for 20 years and it has not led to stronger drugs or any bullshit like that. But it looks like its affecting your spelling, so you should probably quit.

Marijuana kills off stem cells in your brain associated with dendrites. It causes you to lose memory and it affecst body functioning by stunting the function of your neuromuscular system. You can become disabled if you were to continue it regularly. It can be passed on to a pregnant women and her child. It slows your thinking down and it does not allow you to think clearly.
