Due to my hispanic roots, when I gain weight it goes straight to my hips and my lower stomach area. What are some exercises I can do to tone these areas? What kind of foods should I avoid?

Do cardio, you can't just pick a spot on your body and reduce the fat there. There is no such thing as spot reduction. If you do cardio, you will lose fat all over. Once you lose the fat there you can do ab and bun exercises to tighten it up

May I suggest the use of Pilates? Thanks to that, I've lost 14 pounds.
