If by "energy supplements" you mean the drinks like "Red Bull," yes, they do work for short periods. Most of them are made up of refined sugars and caffeine, so they will boost you temporarily. The over-the-counter diet aids, which claim to boost energy work in much the same way, by artificially raising your metabolism. If you notice, they all say you take them after eating a balanced meal and in conjunction with an exercise program; The fact is, if you eat right and exercise, you'll lose weight anyway, without taking any supplements. My advice: Eat right, lots of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, drink lots of water, and go out and take a long walk every day. If you eat right, you won't need energy supplements.

Look at just getting a decent diet and taking a good multi vitamin. It also helps to exercise after you wake up and eat breakfast.
