Australia has always been 'christian'. I dont know where you get your opinions from. Australia was getting a bit better for a while there, but has slipped right back into primitive superstitions.

I just heard on the radio that the scheme now has the backing of our "opposition" leader, Kim. I've always said that Kim is as weak as **** and is just Johnny lite. Looks like we'll have Johnny as our leader until he drops dead.
But, to answer your question, you could start a political party with a platform of introducing an Aussie Bill of Rights, with the separation of church and state as the first article. You'll get my vote. Either that, or we'll have to all join the Greens.

What kind of advice do you want? This is in Australia which is becoming more antagonistic to people of faith, especially Christians so I think that it is rather strange that now they want Chaplin's in the schools.
I don't know if this is a good idea or not. I assume it would be voluntary and no child would have to seek counseling form the "Chaplin" if he didn't want to. If the Australian government wants to pay for this sort of thing why should I care?

What a waste of $90 million. A lot of schools already have some form of religious education, but the government should not step in to say "Offer more, we'll pay you"

Man, would this be a mess in the States! Taxpayer funding for religious support, whatever the form, is mingling church and state, not sure how that could be denied??

That sucks. I always thought Australia was more secular than the USA...it probably still is. Chile is looking awful nice.

chaplains are required to have a good extensive knowledge of all religions, not just christianity--I know that from the military--it's not a bad compromise

advice: vote, campaign, spread the word (as you are here in Y!A)
my opinion of austrailia just dropped a few notches
how is that even legal??
i'm guity of ignorance concerning austrailia. judging from some recent news, i got the impression they had progressed beyond the USA, as canada has
how about NZ? ... surely, they are more progressive (i hope)

You must vote for the candidate that wants this to end. You must rally your friends to do the same.
