Let's assume that they are. The question is "enhance by who".

Because if they are a special case of our senses being enhanced by God -- for example to prophesy, to calm storms, to pronounce words of Godly protection on a soldier seven thousand miles away, to heal illness, or to walk miles without knowing in advance where to go or why -- then meet someone who needed you to be at that specific place and time --

Then I think it is okay for us to have those temporary enhancements. In our heads where the brain is, and in the heart where we feel the stirrings of the soul.

And by the way -- all of those spiritual experiences I am referring to are things that have happened to me. All in my head? I think not. Micro-seizures, I think not.

You could call them enhancements or enlightenment's or visions or many other descriptive words we use to try and describe an encounter with God. They are real and people experience them all the time especially when actively seeking our Lord in prayer and meditation.

If you go to my site at http://www.phpbbserver.com/theconfidant/ you'll see in the religion section I've given a detailed account of my many spiritual encounters.

It's an amazing thing, and I don't think that it's in our heads at all. I believe that there are many things out there that we can't explain, and spiritual encounters are something to be cherished. They will probably always remain a mystery to mankind, and in a way, that is probably a good thing.

Of course they are a temporary enhancement of our senses.

Nobody could possibly maintain that level of intensity for very long.

In the head.

Religion is very closely linked with many psychiatric and psychological illnesses like bi-polar disorder.
