I'm trying to understand Intelligent Design. This is what I understood from it so far:

The universe and everything in it is too complex to have happened by chance. Therefore it must have a designer. This designer is even more complex than the entire universe, but the designer happened by chance. If the designer would need a designer, it would become a neverending story, so we are supposed to stop thinking after the word 'designer'..... Am I right so far?

grahss hawpper yo ah such a slow learner. The creation story in Genisis is only one small creation on one small planet and for only one small period in time. The vision is given so the readers can understand is from earthly perspective. All these things you theorize about have no impact on your behavior tomorrow so y does it matter to you. Is being the one who is correct more important than being a loving person?? Even many children learn early it is more important to get along with one another than to be always right. If an issue effects a relationship or a hurt bird then pursue it until your dieing breath but if it is irrelevant to the way you live then let it go.

there is no theory more ridiculus than vertical evolution and in just a few years you will laugh about ever thinking it was worth defending so make friends while you can, give freely, do things that make you happy and do not spend time in intellectual pursuit. The intellect is circular which you will see when you get older and solves no problems so go forth and vote for an independant or Democrat so you might have a positive impact on all of our lives.

one may as well try to find a woman who is obedient as to theorize about the universe and think one might ever know the answers, would be much easier to find such a woman. I have searched for years and never even saw one much less found one. Look for the missing sock, when you find it you will have added more to your life than winning every intellectual debate.

sorry spell check no worky

John 1:1

No one created God, He has always been here...otherwise He would not be God.

Truth is true whether you believe it or not. Truth does not require belief in order to be true...however, it deserves to be believed.

Spiritually speaking, we must gain an understanding of our situation to be able to understand why an antidote is necessary.

It is the goal of the law of God to give us that understanding, that diagnosis, the goal of the gospel of Jesus Christ to provide the antidote. Jesus is not just a cherry flavored cough syrup that works as well as lemon flavored Buddha.

Believe in Jesus is an extremely invasive heart procedure that brings people to life. And that is the only medicine that will work.

And more about the flavors of the "argument" about the design...there are a variety of ways the design argument has been used to argue for the existence of God. Proponents have pointed to order information, purpose, complexity, simplicity, sense, and even beauty as evidence of design in the universe.

Scientists have come to understand the universe as having a great deal of precision. In fact, the degree of precision is so great that to alter many of the parameters even minutely would destroy life as we know it.

This precision leads some scientists to make an argument based on order that the universe was actually designed to accomodate life. Also called "fine tuning", the antrophic principle has two classes of parameters : one set for the features of the universe, the other for the features of a sun-planet-moon system.

Each of those 32 parameters ( one example: if the earth's crust were thicker, too much oxygen would be transferred from the atmosphee to the crust. But if the crust were thinner, there would be too much volcanic and tectonic activity ) cannot exeed certain limits without disturbing a planet's capacity to support life.

When dealing with evidence and philosophical proofs, the result is always expressed in a degree of probability. In the end the goal is the same for all: to give an answer to those who ask and to be light and salt in a dark and decaying world.

Notable quote from John M Frame
"If these people understood who God really is, His wrath, and His love, what He demands and what He offers, they would ( or should )break down the doors to worship Him. "

Not exactly. Since the designer is more complex, it compells an even more complex designer, which being more complex, thus compells an even more complex designer, etc.

Chance doesn't enter the picture, but you are indeed stuck with and infinite regression of increasing complexity. They try to weasle around this by saying "the first designer is infinitely complex, and so no greater designer is possible". Heh, according to transfinite math, there can indeed be degrees of infinity.

Who says the "Designer" was designed? The Designer is eternal... He has been around forever. This is hard for us as humans to understand because we have a beginning and an end. But that's where faith comes in.

Did the designer wear designer jeans?

I've thought about that too. It's pretty deep. I guess I believe that God just IS. I know, I have nothing to back that up and there's no way to prove it. I just can't wrap my mind around it b/c it would never stop. LOL!

It's called convoluted logic and all creationists are supposed to excuse the expression, think that way.

yes and dont forget, the reason evolution didnt happen was there are gaps between species that havent been found. A little hypocritical as I see it.
