After automatically setting restore points for one year, (XPSP2) my Dell Support 3.2 is telling me no restore points have been set for two months. When I check in System Restore, the dates are marked in bold. I don't know which is wrong because if I try to use System Restore, I receive a message saying there have been no changes to my computer so I can't restore. There have been many changes made. What do I do?

I am no expert but follow my instructions close all windoows.click on start scroll up to programs this opens a file go to accessories another file opens move to system tools another file opens click on system restore that should open restore window click restore to earlier date you should have 2 ways there by bold dates and dates you choose I suggest click first on chose date but dont enter any click back to there restore points pick the date from the bold numbers not todays date click the date then follow next step etc the pc should shut down and restart automatically restoring every thing on that date sometimes what happens is because the restore point is already in the circle it doesnt work so you move it to your own date and back to make the memory work .Remember never try this on the first day of a month it doesnt give you choices.Adding a new program has nothing to do with restore system only if it is a virus etc.

goin back on System Restore 1 year is no good you cant go back that far . make sure ur pc . is clean of virus .spyware . and set a System Restore point from there if you have a system restore cd sent with ur pc you can use that. if you need to. then any virus or spyware will be gone

you should not have to go back to one yr. I would do a system recovery which you'll probably need a recovery disk.. save vital data if you have to do a hard drive re format. Either of these should restore your computer to original factory settings. the reformat is cool in that it clears virus and worm problems. good luck. and if this does not fix it contact your ISP.

Save important files to disk,

Reformat from Safe Mode.

Reboot, and reload windows.
